This is your opportunity to help teens get outside to learn science. You can support our mission to give more kids the opportunity to go outside and do hands-on science by becoming a Science Camp Sponsor.
Your support for Science Camp goes a long way in making a difference in the lives of the young adults who attend science camp. Sponsorships are a great way to show your support while also having an opportunity to showcase your organization's support, not just for Science Camp, but for science education everywhere, through our promotions online and at camp. Below you will find the benefits that are included with each type of sponsorship. Please note that Science Camps of America is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so your sponsorship includes associated tax benefits.
We would like to thank Adventist Health Castle of Kailua, Hawaiʻifor supporting Science Camp through its ongoing and generous donation of medical and health care supplies.
There are a number of sponsorship opportunities that range from $30 to $1,000. Your support through a sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park
The entry fee for Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is $30 for each of our vans (annual fee). This is our most important entry fee as we visit the park multiple times each session.
Science on a Sphere at 'Imiloa Astronomy Center
This sponsorship provides the entry fee for campers for the 'Imiloa Astronomy Center during the Air & Space Science Camp session. Besides modeling air currents, ocean currents, turtle migrations and more using NOAA's Science on a Sphere, campers explore the exhibits, native gardens, Hawaiian history and view a planetarium show. Your support helps make this possible.
Pacific Tsunami Museum
During the Land & Sea Science Camp session, campers visit the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. The museum provides the campers with greater insight into the science behind tsunami, their effect on coastlines and human populations, and the efforts being carried out to mitigate those effects in the future.
Science Camp T-Shirt from 2013
Each session, we provide each camper with a Science Camp t-shirt. Each year's shirt has a new theme - in 2013, it was the volcano. In 2014, sea turtles. In 2015, space! In 2016, back to the volcano! Next summer? Have an idea? Let us know!
Sometimes, it really is rocket science!
During the Air & Space session, one day is dedicated to rocketry. The day includes learning about the physics behind each phase of the flight from launch to touchdown. Each camper builds his or her own rocket, and has the chance to launch it multiple times. Campers measure the maximum altitude reached and make various calculations to complete "rocket science" day. Your sponsorship helps purchase the rocket kits and engines to give each camper their own hands-on experience.
Van Rides are a lot of fun
We will drive 1200 to 1500 miles in each van during each session as we travel around Hawaiʻi Island on field trips. That's a lot of time in the vans! They are our "home away from camp" while on the road - site of many a picnic lunch, nap, scary story and tall tale. We use only 7-passenger minivans to comply with the highest standards of the camp industry. Your sponsorship of a van rental supports Science Camp's most essential philosophy: get teens out into the field to do and learn science.
Thank you!
